End of Reviews?

Due to the new direction I am trying to take my blog I will no longer be doing weekly game reviews in a text based format. I am trying to take the blog in a different direction. As stated in my recent video, I want to focus more on appealing to a newer audience in competitive TF2. Game reviews are fun and all but they are mainly for old games because I buy games on the steam sale. Instead of doing reviews for games as i previously talked about, i will instead do articles on map strategies and callouts. How to play the competitive 6v6 maps and HL maps is something i wish to teach new players. I will also be doing videos on how to practice, how to improve teamwork. I hope you all are going to enjoy the content i will be producing in the upcoming weeks and apologies for the poor updating schedule, I have been having computer problems and overflows of school work. Hopefully next week will have a more stable release date time. Until then, so long and stay tuned!

Tip of the Hats Charity Stream

Tip of the Hats LogoThis weekend an event went of within the TF2 community that goes on once a year now called aTip of the Hats. This is a stream that goes on for one weekend nonstop with the goal of raising money for charity. The stream does a variety of things with various TF2 players that have some kind of community prowess from competitive players to youtube personalities. They have all kinds of events that go on throughout the 2 days such as community pubing, MGE tourneys, and show matches. One of the best events was the final event on Sunday where Jerma and Star_, 2 youtube TF2 players drafted 6v6 teams of the best competitive TF2 players in the game in a MOBA style draft. The teams then played against each other on some of the best 6v6 maps. On the 3rd draft Robin Walker, co creator of TF2 joined the stream and added himself to the drafting pool. Throughout the stream a great time was had by all with lots of fun events and cool things that the community put on all for a good cause. The whole point of the stream was to get donations for the charity they were raising for; OneStep, which is a organization that raises money to send kids with cancer to summer camp. It helps pay for their treatments and it helps them have a time and be like normal kids. Their were incentives for donations like raffles of items all donated by the community and auctions. One auction of a Austrailium Professional killsteak sniper rifle signed by Star_ which went for 5100 dollars! In total the community raised over 100,000 dollars for the charity! Lots of hard work was put into the event and a great outcome was achieved. The VODs of the stream will most likely be up on the Tip of the Hats Twitch page (http://www.twitch.tv/tipofthehats/profile) and you can check out the website at TipOfTheHats.org. If you watched the steam and donated thanks a lot and we will see you all next year!

We played a good game and i did a post commentary talking about my mistakes and good plays i made on a hero I’m not too experienced in yet. I normally play a 4 position but i have been trying too learn the offlane position better lately. Stay tuned for more content and follow if you enjoy it!

Tf2 Tutorial Compilation Curation

This is a well put together tutorial on advanced rocket jumping techniques mainly for long distance travel as soldier. It covers things such as pogoing, a very important technique that you use to chain together jumps by shooting a rocket before you reach the ground to keep your momentum and ramp sliding, taking the mechanics behind surfing and letting you slide up ramps to increase distance. A really great tutorial to those that already have a good strong foundation behind rocket jumping and want an advanced tutorial.

This, not so much a tutorial is an informational video by a prominent spy in the HL scene named stabby stabby. He discusses backstab registration and server and client side ping. This is good for new players who get frustrated with spy to watch and see how those things that look like facestabs happen, a really interesting look at how ping and game transfer data is constructed, a must watch for those getting into HL or learning to deal with spies.

This is another video a bit different that a tutorial, in some ways a frag video but for perfect rollouts on certain maps instead. The reason its in the tutorials post is watching these perfect rollouts can give players trying to learn them a really helpful example of what your supposed to do as you jump across the map. Anyone getting into competitive 6v6 should take a look, even if you don’t play soldier or demo cause it will give you a good idea of what your teammates are doing to get to the places they’re going.
